Supporting Brighter Futures

Supporting Brighter Futures is an important part of my Will Writing business. I’ve been doing so with great pride for about seven years now. And, I’m pleased to report, that our commitment is strong. In my Will writing capacity, I offer a 10 per cent discount on my services to NHS staff.

So, who or what are Brighter Futures and what do they do? Well, BF is the charity for Swindon’s Great Western Hospital NHS foundation trust. That includes the GWH hospital itself along with community health sites across the town. With donations from the community, the trust can fund extra levels care that allow them to make a real difference to patients, their families and the staff treating them.

Further, they improve the hospital environment, fund breaking research, support the development and training of hospital staff and provide state-of-the-art equipment.

If you want, you can direct your support towards a specific project or ward or department. So, for instance, if the special care baby unit holds resonances for you then it’s possible for you to contribute to that. Ditto with the cardiac suite, the children’s ward or A&E. The charity will make sure that they use your donation to help patients in the area of your choosing.

Can’t support now?
Aren’t in the position of wanting to support a charity but aren’t in a position to do so right now? One way around that is to leave a legacy in your Will. Indeed, charities rely on Will legacies to ensure their survival.
In the words of Rob Cope, director of Remember a Charity: ‘Charities find themselves having to do even more than before, but with less money than ever. One in ten are now at risk of permanent closure. That’s a scary thought.’
Remember a Charity is a consortium of charities set up to encourage legacy giving. They’re more aware than most that there’s never been a more important time to use your Will to leave a gift to a charity or Charities that mean something to you.
Cope is at pains to stress that, over the last year or so, many charities – too many even – have relied on donations in Wills for their income. ‘Thank goodness for the kindness of those people who decided to leave them a gift in this way, because it’s been a lifeline.
Legacy donations have done more than help so many charities- they’ve been a lifeline. Gifts given via Wills are set to be the cornerstone of the sector’s economic recovery.
